SOUNDSET 2019 Gets Hip, Hops on the Cannabis Bus

Sunday marked the 11th annual SOUNDSET Music Festival at the Minnesota Fairgrounds. And it did not disappoint. The sun was shining, the vibes were positive and the music was on point!

As expected, it was a confluence of hip hop, dance, culture, tasty foods and…the emerging cannabis economy? Yes, you read that right, cannabis was in full force on Minnesota state property, represented by activist groups and retailers alike.

Hosting booths in the pavillion area were Minnesotans for Responsible Marijuana Regulation, MN NORML, Minnesota Marijuana, CannaLids, Stigma Hemp, and Midwest American Shaman, amongst others.

Unsurprisingly, the crowd was very sympathetic to the cause.  The question, uttered over and over again, was: “when’s it gonna be legal?” The answer isn’t so easy due squarely to our system of representational democracy and lack of ballot initiative.

Undeterred with the political realities, thousands of attendees visited these booths and signed up to be activists for the common cause of legalizing cannabis.  Thousands more sampled and purchased hemp products.

Hopefully we will have more to celebrate before SOUNDSET 2020.  In the meantime, check out our slideshow from the festival and sign up for MRMR’s campaign here.
